Harlan County Man Arrested for Rape

(Cranks, Ky.) - On September 21, 2014 at approximately 8:00 p.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call from the Harlan County Hospital that a 19 year old female had been raped in Harlan County. Det. Josh Howard responded to the hospital and began an investigation.

Preliminary investigation indicates the female was taken to a camper at Cranks Creek Lake. Kenneth L. Keith, 35, of Cumberland physically and sexually assaulted her in the early morning hours on September 21, 2014. Mr. Keith was arrested on September 22, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. in Cumberland, Ky and charged with the following.

  1. Two counts of Rape First Degree-Serious Physical Injury
  2. Sodomy 1st
  3. Kidnapping
  4. Unlawful transaction with a minor
  5. Illegal Give/Sell of Alcohol in a Dry Territory

Mr. Keith is lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center. Case is still under investigation by Det. Josh Howard. Det. Craig Miller and Det. Jason Joseph also assisted in the investigation.
