Juvenile Killed When Struck by an Ambulance

(Gray, Ky.) - On August 23rd, 2014 at approximately 9:55 pm Kentucky State Police Post 10 was notified by Knox County 911 center that an ambulance had been involved in a collision on U S Highway 25e at Lynn Camp. Preliminary investigation by the Kentucky State Police Accident Reconstruction Team indicates that the Knox County ambulance was traveling North on U S Hwy 25e en route to the hospital with a patient. The ambulance dropped off the roadway and struck three juveniles that were riding their bicycles in the median of U S Hwy 25e.
One of the juveniles was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene by the Knox County Coroner. The other two juveniles were taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin for treatment of their injuries.
Post 10 Accident Reconstruction members Troopers Kenny Sergent & Michael Cornett are continuing the investigation into the collision. Det. Jason York is in charge of the death investigation.
