Collision Claims life of Tennessee Woman

(Bledsoe, Ky.) - Kentucky State Police responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 221E in the Bledsoe area of Harlan County around 12:25 PM on Sunday.

According to the report, Laura Beth Spencer, age 25, of Piney Flats, Tennessee was traveling westbound on Highway 221E in a 1998 Toyota Camry. Ms. Spencer lost control of her vehicle and exited the roadway, striking a tree. The vehicle came to final rest on its top in a stream. Ms. Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene by Harlan County Deputy Coroner Jim Rich Jr. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

The collision is being investigated by Master Trooper Michael H. Cornett, KSP Collision Reconstructionist. He was assisted on scene by troopers Andy Soltess and Rodney Sturgill. Johnson's LifeCare EMS and the Bledsoe Fire Department.
