Assault 1st arrest in Knox County

(Gray, Ky.) - On July 31, 2014 at 8:12 p.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call about a shooting that occurred on Dunham Lane in the Gray community of Knox County.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Gwendolyn Smith, 43, of Gray had been involved in a verbal dispute with her neighbor. Mrs. Smith then pulled out a handgun and shot Jason Marsee, 43, of Gray in the leg. Mr. Marsee was transported from the scene by Knox County EMS to a location to be flown out. Mr. Marsee was then flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for his injuries. His condition is not known at this time.
Mrs. Smith was arrested and charged with assault 1st degree and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
Investigation is continuing by KSP Det. Bryan Johnson. He was assisted at the scene by Tpr. Sammy Farris, Tpr. Wayne Hensley, Sgt. Jason Bunch, and Det. Josh Howard.
