Armed Robbery at McDowell Stop and Shop

(McDowell, Ky.) -- On Tuesday June 4, 2013 at 11:37 P.M. Post 9 Pikeville received a 911 call from the McDowell Stop and Shop in the McDowell community of Floyd County stating the business had been robbed. Information obtained at the scene indicated that a tall male entered the business wearing a white handkerchief over his face brandishing a weapon. The unidentified male demanded money from the clerk, the clerk complied and the male exited the business with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a green Buick passenger car traveling West on Ky. 122.

Trooper Blake Frasure observed the scene in the area near the business and Trooper Frasure, Tpr. John Dixon and Tpr. Josh Brainard conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle 31 year old Scottie R. Bradley of Blue River, Ky. was arrested and charged with 1 count of Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs/Etc. 1st Offense, 1 count Resisting Arrest, 1 count Fleeing or Evading Police on Foot 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon, Robbery 1st Degree and other traffic related offenses. A passenger in the vehicle, Kelly J. Bryant 43 years old of Martin, Ky. was arrested and charged with 1 count of Robbery 1st Degree. Both subjects were transported and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center. This incident remains under investigation by KSP Detective Chris Phillips.
