Shooting Investigation in Paintsville, KY

(Paintsville,Ky.) -- On Thursday February 14, 2013 at 5:12 P.M. Post 9 Pikeville received a call from Paintsville/Johnson County 911 requesting assistance with a shooting complaint in the Paintsville Community of Johnson County. Kentucky State Police Trooper Michael Haney and KSP Detective William Petry responded to the scene. Information obtained at the scene indicated that Jeffery Irvine, 43 years old of Paintsville, Ky. fired a weapon into a residence striking a female which was inside. The female was transported to Saint Mary's Medical Center for her injuries. The female is listed in critical condition at this time. Jeffery Irvine was arrested and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on 1 count of Assault 1st Degree. This incident remains under investigation by KSP Detective William Petry. The Victim's name is not being released at this time.
