Powell County Sheriff Deputy Injured in a Collision

(Morehead, KY) - On Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 09:56 p.m. Kentucky State Police Morehead received a call for service from Powell County Dispatch in reference to a single vehicle accident on Black Creek Road. Trooper Joseph Zalone, Powell County Fire Department and Powell County EMS responded to the scene. Deputy Larry Hall, 35, of the Powell County Sheriff's office was traveling Northbound on Black Creek Road, while off duty, in his police issued 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, when he attempted to avoid striking a deer located in his direction of travel. Mr. Hall then lost control of his vehicle and exited the left side of the highway striking an earth embankment. Mr. Hall was treated at the scene for neck and back injuries by Powell County EMS, and transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling, Kentucky where he is listed in stable condition. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Joseph Zalone.
