Possible Explosive Device at Elliott County Middle School

(Morehead, KY) - On September 23, 2013 at 1043 A.M., Kentucky State Police Post 8 Morehead received a report from the Elliott County Board of Education in reference to a possible explosive device at the Elliott County Middle School. The Board of Education had been contacted by staff at the Elliott County Middle School advising they had located the device on a student. Trooper Royce Collett responded to the school and discovered that the device was a World War II training grenade. No students or staff were evacuated from the school and no injuries were sustained during the incident. The student has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon on school property. The incident remains under investigation by Trooper Collett.
