Wayne County West Virginia Pled Guilty Murder

(Morehead, KY) -- On January 28, 2013 Shane T. Elkins, of Wayne County West Virginia pled guilty in Morgan Circuit Court for his role in the January 22, 1998 murder of Michael Dean Bartley of Ezel, Kentucky.

Information was obtained in August 2011 of Elkins and his father Melvin Elkins involvement in the murder of Bartley. Elkins, who was in West Virginia's Mt. Olive Correctional Complex serving a life sentence, for the 2007 murder of his father was extradited back to Kentucky in August 2012 to stand trial for his role in Bartley's murder.

Elkins' final sentencing will be on February 25.
