KSP Post 7 ‘Shop with a Trooper’ Event
Date of News Release: 12/16/2013
(Richmond, KY) -- On Saturday, December 14, 2013, the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post helped make Christmas more special for several children this year.
There were one hundred sixty-three children from the KSP Post 7 area that shopped and received gifts during the 'Shop with a Trooper' event. The event took place at the Wal-Mart's in Richmond and Stanford, encompassing children from all of the counties in the Post District. Assisting with the shopping were Troopers and Staff from the KSP Post 7, Officers from the CVE Region 5, KSP Citizen Police Academy Graduates, as well as members from the community.
The Kentucky State Police would like to thank all the local businesses and families that made donations for the event. "Without the funding that has been donated over the past year, none of this would be possible" said the Post 7 Captain Greg Crockett. "It is an honor and a privilege to be able to serve the less fortunate families, especially during the holiday season".
Additionally, there were four elderly individuals that were taken shopping for clothing and necessities during the event as part of a partnership with the Counsel for Elder Maltreatment Prevention (CEMP). "This is the first time that we have involved the elderly in our 'Shop with a Trooper' event" said Post 7 Sergeant Toby Coyle. "The elderly have different needs than what the children have, however it very rewarding seeing the joy that it brings to them".
