KSP Post 7 Thanksgiving Traffic Enforcement

Date of News Release: 11/27/2013

(Richmond, KY) - The Troopers assigned to the State Police Post in Richmond will be working hard to keep the roadways safe this Thanksgiving Holiday. Beginning Wednesday, November 27 at 6 p.m. until Sunday, December 1 at 11:59 p.m., members of the State Police will take steps to save lives and reduce injury-related crashes.

In 2012 there were a total of 1,390 motor vehicle collisions over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Unfortunately these collisions claimed seven lives, one of which occurred in the Post 7 District.

"This time of year should truly be about spending time with family and friends" said the Post 7 Operations Lieutenant Cindy Langer. "Unfortunately, the poor decisions that drivers choose to make, can lead to a lifetime of sorrow and regret. Our troopers will be diligently enforcing traffic laws this week in an attempt to keep your families safe this holiday season."

KSP Troopers and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers will be targeting drivers that place themselves and others in danger. These offenses include failing to wear a seat belt, driving while impaired, speeding, reckless driving and driving while distracted.

Drivers in the Post 7 District can expect to see saturated patrol in high collision areas and increased traffic safety check points at pre-approved locations. For traffic safety checkpoint locations in the area please refer to the website:

The members of the Kentucky State Police Post in Richmond would like to wise everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
