KSP Locate Suspected Human Remains at the Scene of Suspicious Fire

(Richmond, KY) - On Wednesday, October 2, 2013, the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post located suspected human remains at the scene of a suspicious fire in rural Madison County. The remains have been transferred to the State Medical Examiners office for identification.

KSP Investigates Fire and Missing Persons Case in Madison County

(Richmond, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Richmond Post is currently investigating a suspicious fire that occurred on Whitlock Road in rural Madison County on Thursday, September 26, 2013. The Madison County Fire Department responded to 749 Whitlock Road for a residential fire at 12:53 am EDT. The fire department was unable to locate the owner of the residence after the fire was extinguished and the Kentucky State Police was notified.
The Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator Pat Alford responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire and search the residence for the homeowner. Investigator Alford and other KSP investigators performed a thorough search of the residence and were unable to locate the homeowner, Walter Liebengood, 57 years old of Richmond. On Friday, September 27, 2013, the Kentucky State Police opened a Missing Person case for Walter Liebengood after the search of the residence was exhausted. Mr. Liebengood was last seen on Wednesday, September 25 at his residence.
The investigation is ongoing by KSP Detective Rob Morris and Arson Investigator Pat Alford. Detective Alford was assisted on scene by investigators from the Kentucky State Police, the Madison County Fire Department and the State Fire Marshall's Office.
