KSP Richmond Post "Drive Sober or get Pulled Over" Campaign
Date of News Release: 08/23/2013
(Richmond, KY) -- If you drink and drive in the Richmond Post District beware, the Kentucky State Police is joining with law enforcement throughout the nation for the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign August 16 to September 2, 2013.
The strong nationwide impaired driving crackdown will include high-visibility enforcement, high-profile events, and will be supported by national paid advertising, creating a comprehensive campaign to curb alcohol impaired driving in August and through the Labor Day holiday weekend.
Richmond Post said its Troopers will be aggressively looking for impaired drivers during the crackdown and will arrest anyone caught driving impaired.
Last year, 746 people lost their lives on Kentucky roadways, of which 146 deaths were due to alcohol. During the Labor Day holiday weekend in 2012, nine people were killed, two of which were alcohol related
"Driving under the influence is perhaps the most dangerous decision that someone can make when operating a vehicle. If you decide to drink this Labor Day weekend, plan ahead and have a sober driver," said Captain Lisa Rudzinski, Richmond Post Commander. "Our Troopers will be diligent in their efforts to stop and arrest anyone that chooses to drive while impaired."
