Man Critically Wounded in Shooting

(MULDRAUGH, KY.) - On Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at approximately 11:25 A.M. EST, Kentucky State Police Post 04 received a call from the Meade County Dispatch in regards to a welfare check on a possible suicidal person. A KSP Trooper along with officers from the Muldraugh, Brandenburg, and West Point Police Departments as well as the Meade County Sheriif's Office responded to 710 S. Main St. in Muldraugh. Upon arrival, the Trooper and Officers heard a shot fired inside of the house. A short time later, John R. Price (31) emerged from underneath the front porch of his residence with several weapons. After brief dialogue between Police on the scene and Mr. Price, Mr. Price fired a weapon causing the Trooper on the scene to return fire. Information from witnesses at the scene, pending further investigation, indicates that Mr. Price suffered a single gunshot wound that was self-inflicted. He was airlifted from the scene and is currently in critical condition at the University of Louisville Hospital. The investigation is ongoing at this time. KSP was also assisted at the scene by Meade Co. EMS.
