Two Commercial Vehicle Injury Collision in Hart County

(Bowling Green, KY) -- On Thursday morning, March 14, 2013, at approximately 3:23 a.m., KSP Post 3 received the report of a collision in the Northbound lanes of I-65, near the 71 mile marker, involving two tractor trailers.
Preliminary investigation shows that, James Barnett (40) of Nashville, TN, was operating a 2007 Freightliner, when for an unknown reason, he veered across both northbound travel lanes and struck a 2007 Kenworth in the rear. Prior to the collision, the Kenworth was parked on the right shoulder near the Bonnieville Exit Ramp and was occupied by Jessie Taylor (39) of Harvest, AL and Jeremy Lee (39) of Decatur, AL.
Upon impact, Barnett was ejected from his vehicle. He was flown from the scene to the University of Louisville Hospital, where he currently listed in stable condition. Neither occupant of the Kenworth reported any injuries.
This investigation is ongoing and being led by Trooper Wesley Medley. He was assisted on scene by Trooper Jeremy Smith, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Morris, Hart County EMS, Bonnieville Fire Dept., Air Methods, Alvey's Towing, Stanton's Towing, Kentucky Environmental Protection and the Barren River Area Health Department.
