Date of News Release: 12/07/2013

Madisonville, KY. - On December 6th, 2013 Kentucky State Police responded to an injury collision on Interstate 24 in Christian County. The investigation showed that 27yoa April Harvey, of Clarksville TN, was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer in the left westbound lane of Interstate 24 at the 91 mile marker, with freezing rain and sleet falling.

30yoa Jake Floyd of Grimes, IA was operating a 2013 Kenworth tractor and semi-trailer in the right lane of travel behind Ms. Harvey.

28yoa James Powell Jr. of Elkins Park, PA was operating a 2005 Toyota Camry in the left lane of travel directly behind Ms. Harvey's vehicle.

As Ms. Harvey's vehicle crossed the Red River Bridge she lost control of her vehicle and crossed into the right lane of travel striking a bridge abutment. The impact caused her vehicle to slide back into the roadway into the path of Mr. Floyd's vehicle. Ms. Harvey's vehicle then struck Mr. Floyd's vehicle. Ms. Harvey's vehicle then crossed back into the left lane of travel striking Mr. Powell's vehicle. As a result of the impact, Ms. Harvey and Mr. Powell's vehicle exited the left shoulder of the roadway. The vehicles came to final rest in the median.
