KSP Arrest Elkton Man on Drug Charges

Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County) -- Kentucky State Police Trooper Jim McArthur arrested an Elkton man on drug charges.
On Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at 1:07 p.m., Trooper McArthur conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Freddie L. Jones, 38 of Elkton, KY, on Madisonville Road, approximately one mile north of Hopkinsville.
During the traffic stop, a police K-9 alerted on the vehicle. Trooper McArthur located suspected marijuana and prescription pills inside the vehicle.
Trooper McArthur arrested Mr. Jones and charged him with the following offenses:
- Trafficking in Marijuana (< 8 ozs.) 1st Offense (A Misdemeanor)
- Trafficking in Controlled Substance 2nd Degree 1st Offense (D Felony)
- Expired KY Registration Plates (Violation)
- Expired KY Registration Receipt (Violation)
Mr. Jones was lodged in the Christian County Detention Center.
The Hopkinsville Police Department and the Christian County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
