Injury Collision Involving Tractor-Trailer on I-24
Date of News Release: 01/29/2013
Oak Grove, KY. (Christian County) -- The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on I-24, at approximately the 81 mile-marker, on Monday, January 28, 2013, at 5:05 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that John Oldham, age 67 of Louisville, IL, was operating a 2007 International tractor-trailer. Mr. Oldham was exiting the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway attempting to merge onto I-24 eastbound. As the vehicle was traveling down the exit ramp, the cargo (chain-link fencing) on his flatbed trailer shifted causing the vehicle to overturn onto its driver's side. The tractor-trailer slid across both eastbound lanes of the interstate and entered the median.
Mr. Oldham, who was wearing a seatbelt, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Trooper Ryan Fox investigated the collision. Tpr. Jeff Ayres, Tpr. Sean Wint, the Christian County Sheriff's Department, Christian County EMS, the Oak Grove Fire Department and the State Highway Department assisted at the scene.
