Todd County Police Officer Charged with Official Misconduct 1st

(Madisonville, KY.) -- On Thursday, January 24, 2013, Kentucky State Police Post 2 received information in reference to an Elkton, KY police officer attempting to buy narcotics while on duty. Units conducted an undercover investigation and performed a controlled delivery to Officer Russell Morris of the Elkton Police Department. Mr. Morris was charged with Official Misconduct 1st Degree, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense - Drug Unspecified - Firearm Enhanced, and Possession of a Synthetic Cannabinoid Agonist - Firearm Enhanced. Mr. Russell was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center. Detective Brandon McPherson, unit 678, is the investigating officer. He was assisted by Sergeant Trent Weaver, Detective Carlo Anderson, and Trooper Ben Cox.
