Criminal Arrest - Fleeing and Evading

Madisonville, KY. (Hopkins County) -- A Hopkinsville man was arrested after a traffic stop lead to a foot pursuit.

On Thursday, January 3, 2013 at approximately 3:50 p.m., Trooper Bob Winters initiated a traffic stop on Hall Street in Madisonville on a 2001 Chevrolet Impala for a traffic violation.

The vehicle turned from Hall Street onto South Harrig Street and pulled over. The driver immediately exited the vehicle and fled down South Harrig.

KSP Troopers and the Madisonville Police Department responded to the area. Tpr. Joe Bartolotti located the suspect and began pursuing him behind residences on East Broadway. Tpr. Bartolotti and Madisonville Officers apprehended the suspect near South Daves Street at approximately 4:11 p.m.

The suspect, identified as Courtney D. Williams, age 22, of Hopkinsville, KY, was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail and charged with the following offenses:

  1. No Registration Plate
  2. No Insurance
  3. Operating on a Suspended Operator's License
  4. Fleeing/Evading Police 2nd Degree (on foot)
  5. Execution of Warrant for Other Agency

Tpr. Winters was assisted by Tpr. Bartolotti, TFC. John Komar, Tpr. Ben Sawyer, and the Madisonville Police Department.
