Pedestrian Injured on KY 131 in Graves County

(Hickory, KY) - The Kentucky State Police is investigating a two vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at approximately 7:53 P.M. The collision occurred on KY 131 in front of Symsonia Elementary School. Preliminary investigation shows that Ms. Baleda Johnson was operating a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo north on KY 131 when she noticed a pedestrian walking in the roadway. Ms. Johnson attempted to avoid a collision, but was unable to do so and struck the pedestrian. Ms. Johnson immediately pulled her car over to render aid and call 911. Before Ms. Johnson was able to reach the pedestrian, a 1999 Buick Le Sabre being operated by Mr. Ollive Barrett, who was unaware of anyone lying in the roadway, struck the pedestrian a second time. The pedestrian, Cherish Willis, age 16, suffered significant injuries to her leg and face and was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by the Graves County Sheriff's Department, Mayfield/Graves County EMS, and the Symsonia Fire Department. The investigation continues by Trooper Brian Hill.
