KSP charges juvenile in reference to bomb threat

(Murray, KY.) -- Kentucky State Police Trooper David Dick has charged a juvenile in reference to a bomb threat that occurred at Calloway County High School today (04/29/2013).

On Monday, April 29, 2013, at approximately 12:55 p.m., the KSP post 1 Mayfield was contacted by the Calloway County Sheriff's Office in reference to a bomb threat at Calloway County High School located at 2108 College Farm Road, Murray. A threat indicating that there was a bomb in the school had been discovered in a girl's bathroom.

Emergency personnel from several agencies responded to the scene. Students were evacuated from the high school and the middle school was locked down. A search of the school was conducted by officers and a canine from the KSP Special Operations Section. No explosives or explosive devices were located. Students were allowed to return to their classes at approximately 2:40 p.m.

As a result of on-scene investigation, Trooper Dick charged the juvenile with one count of Terroristic Threatening 1st Degree (Class C Felony). The juvenile was lodged in the McCracken County Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Paducah, KY.

The Calloway County Sheriff's Office, Calloway County Fire-Rescue, Murray Police Department, and Murray State Public Safety assisted at the scene.

KSP Investigating Bomb Threat at Calloway County High School

(Murray, KY.) The Kentucky State Police is investigating a bomb threat at Calloway County High School.
