Injury Collision in Carter County

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland is investigating a collision that occurred on KY 7 at the 1 mile marker in Carter County, KY. This collision occurred around 0810 am and involved two vehicles.

Joel Dearmon, age 33, of Ashland, KY was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Van travelling southbound on KY 7 in the area of mile marker 1. Alfred Brown, age 73, of Sandy Hook, KY was operating a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country travelling northbound on KY 7. Dearmon lost control, traveled into the northbound lane of KY 7 and impacted Brown.

Alfred Brown and passenger Vivian Brown, age 68, were transported by Carter EMS to St. Mary’s Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. Dearmon refused any medical treatment at the scene.

Seatbelts were in use by all occupants of each vehicle. At this time alcohol is not suspected as a contributing factor.

Carter County EMS and Grayson Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The collision is being investigated by Trooper Tye Chavies.
