Update: Two Killed in a Residential Fire in Perry County

Date of News Release: 04/26/2013

(Hazard, KY) -- Kentucky State Police in Hazard began an investigation into a residential fire in the Busy community of Perry County.

Two deceased individuals were located at the scene when the fire was extinguished.

Today the positive identification of the male has been determined. It is that of 58 year old Garfield Herald of Busy. The medical examiner has not determined the positive identification of the deceased female and additional investigation is continuing to determine her identification.

The investigation is being conducted as a double homicide, but the cause of death is not being released at this time. The investigation is continuing and anyone with any information is ask to contact the Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555 or 606-435-6069.

Two Killed in a Residential Fire in Perry County

Date of News Release: 04/20/2013

(Hazard, KY) -- On Friday April 19th, 2013 at approximately 7:19 P.M. KSP in Hazard were notified that members of the Avawam Fire Department had located the body of a man outside a residential fire scene located at 4374 Couchtown Road in the Busy community of Perry County. As firefighters battled the fire the body of a female was later located inside the residence. The victims were pronounced deceased at the fire scene by the Perry County Coroner. Troopers and Detectives along with Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator Clarence Gabbard responded and the scene and are investigating the incident. The exact cause of death & fire is still under investigation at this time. The two bodies have been sent to the state medical examiners office in Frankfort for an autopsy & positive identification.
