Update On Perry County House Fire
Date of News Release: 01/16/2013
(Hazard, Ky.) -- On January 13, 2013 Kentucky State Police, State Fire Marshall's Office and the Perry County Coroner's Office began an investigation into a house fire in the community of Scuddy in Perry County where the bodies of two females were located after the fire was extinguished.
Preliminary investigation indicated that no suspicious circumstances were suspected in the deaths of 64 year old Sandra Melton and 35 year old Suzy Melton or the residential fire.
After the autopsy was completed the State Medical Examiners Office's preliminary findings indicate that both causes of deaths are not consistent with someone who dies from a house fire only. Investigators were back on the scene yesterday and continued their investigation. The Medical Examiner's Office has not completed their investigation and has not determined an exact cause of death. More information will be released as it becomes available and the investigation is continuing.
