Kentucky State Trooper Injured After a Pursuit in Scott County

(Georgetown, KY) - On Saturday November 16, 2013 at approximately 12:58 AM, a Kentucky State Police Trooper was injured after a vehicle he was attempting to stop for speeding, fled from him on Lexington Road, Georgetown, KY.

The driver of the vehicle, Frank Hampton, age 35, of Louisville, was operating a white 2000 Chevrolet Tracker when he refused to stop his vehicle and attempted to flee from the Trooper for approximately 6 miles. In the course of the pursuit, the suspect reached speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour. The suspect was caught after he drove down a dead end street, abandonded his vehicle and fled on foot.

Frank Hampton was arrested and charged with Speeding 25 mph Over, Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Evading Police, Wanton Endangerment 1st, (3) Counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Police Officer, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs 1st, and multiple other traffic offenses.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Ray Caudill was treated and released from Georgetown Community Hospital for injuries received during the incident.

Kentucky State Police were assisted in the investigation by Georgetown Police Department and Scott County Sheriff's Department.

The investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 12 Frankfort.
