Anderson County Injury Collision

(Lawrenceburg, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police Frankfort Post is investigating an injury collision in Anderson County. The collision occurred on Sunday, March 03, 2013, at approximately 0917 a.m. on KY 44, approximatly 6 miles west of Lawrenceburg.
A 2003 Silver Toyota Corolla was traveling east on KY 44, driven by Amy Swisher of Lawrenceburg, KY. Deputy Anthony Likins, Anderson County Sheriff's Department, operating a 2007 Crown Victoria, was traveling west on KY 44. Deputy Likins was traveling slowly on KY 44 due to snowy weather conditions. Deputy Likins pulled to the right side of the roadway, into the guardrail, in an attempt to avoid colliding with the Toyota Corolla which had lost control on the icy roadway. The Toyota Corolla crossed into the oncoming lane, striking Deputy Likins head on.
Two juvenile passengers in the Toyota Corolla were transported to Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, KY, by Anderson County EMS, where they were treated and released. The driver was not injured. Deputy Likins was transported to UK Hospital, Lexington, KY, by Anderson County EMS where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
The juvenile passengers in the Toyota Corolla were not in appropriate child restraint devices.
Weather conditions are a factor in the collision.
KSP was assisted by Lawrenceburg PD, Anderson County Fire and EMS and Anderson County Sheriff's Department. The collision remains under investigation by the KSP Post 12.
