Knox County Fatal Collision on US 25E

(Corbin, Ky.) - On 11/28/13 Kentucky State Police Post 10 received a Wireless 911 call of a two vehicle collision on US 25E in front of Lynn Camp High School in the Corbin community of Knox County. Upon Tpr Maynard's arrival it was determined that Unit 1 a 2013 Ford Fiesta operated by Edward Carter, 78, of Gray, Ky was attempting to make a left turn onto Ky 830. Mr Carter failed to yield right of way to Unit 2 a 2007 Dodge Ram operated by Lee Shrout, 67, of Richmond, Ky. Unit 1 was struck on the right passenger side in the Southbound lane of US 25E. Mr Carter received multiple blunt force injuries and was airlifted to UK Medical Center. Ms Shrout operator of Unit 2 did not receive any injuries. Mr Carter expired from his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 0154 hours, 11/29/30, by the Fayette County Coroner's office. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor at this time. The collision is still under investigation by Tpr Russ Maynard. He was assisted at the scene by West Knox Fire Dept, Knox EMS, and AirEvac.
