Update: Arrest Made in Harlan County Murder Investigation

(Evarts, Ky.) -- On February 25, 2013 at 12:45p.m. Kentucky State Police Special Response Team executed an arrest warrant at the residence of Shelby L. Shell, 29, in Berea, Ky. Mr. Shell was arrested and charged with the death of Ronnie King, 59, of Evarts, Ky. Shelby Shell is being brought back to Harlan County were he will be lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center and charged with the following charges: Murder, Robbery 1st,Burglary 1st, Arson 1st, Tampering with physical evidence.

Update: Death Investigation in Harlan County

(Evarts, Ky.) -- Preliminary autopsy results indicate that Ronnie King, 59, of Evarts suffered a single gun shot wound resulting in his death. The death investigation has now been changed to Murder. No arrests have been made. No other details can be released at this time. Anyone with any information contact Post 10, Harlan at 606-573-3131.

Death Investigation in Harlan County
Date of News Release: 02/18/2013
(Evarts, Ky.) -- On February 18, 2013 at 1055 a.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10, Harlan responded to a house fire located on Kelly Street in the Evarts community of Harlan County. Once troopers and detectives arrived at the scene they located Ronnie King, 59, of Evarts deceased inside.
Preliminary investigation indicates that foul play is suspected. No arrests have been made at this time. KSP troopers, detectives, State Fire Marshal's Office, Evarts Fire Department, and Evarts Police Department are still on the scene at the time of this release. Personnel from the Kentucky State Police Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) branch from Frankfort are en route to assist in the investigation.
The body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's office in Frankfort for an autopsy. The case is under investigation by KSP Det. Mike Cornett.
