Arrest Made in Attempted Robbery of Wheelwright Family Drug

(Wheelwright,Ky.) -- On Thursday December 6, 2012 a unidentified male entered Wheelwright Family Drug and demanded cash from an employee. The unidentified male waited for a response from the employee and then left the business on foot empty handed. KSP Troopers responded to the business, search the community and was unable to locate the male. Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by Floyd County Sheriff's Department and Wheelwright Police Department. The unidentified male was described as a white male wearing a black leather jacket and a black and white bandana. Security video was obtained from Wheelwright Family Drug and released to the local media.
On Saturday December 8, 2012 Trooper John Gabbard traveled to Knott County following up on information called in to KSP Post 9 Pikeville. Post 9 Pikeville received information in relation to the photograph released to the local media that Anthony King 32 years old of Kite, Ky. was involved in the Attempted Robbery of Wheelwright Family Drug. While traveling South on Ky Route 7 in Knott County Tpr. Gabbard observed a black Chevrolet Impala traveling at a high rate of speed. Tpr. Gabbard conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the operator (Anthony King). King was arrested and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center on 1 count of Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, active warrants and traffic offenses. This incident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper John Gabbard. Gabbard was assisted on scene by KSP trooper Adam Hensley and Blake Frasure.
