Impaired Driver Charged After Striking Subway Restaurant

(Pike County, Ky.) -- A woman has been charged for striking a Pike County Subway with a vehicle. Mrs. Toma Williamson, 55, of Belfry, Ky. has been charged with DUI, No Operators License, Failure to Wear Seatbelt, and No Insurance after she lost control of her vehicle on US 23 and left the southbound travel lane of US 23. Her vehicle first struck a parked vehicle before striking the Subway in the Caney community of Pike County. The collision then damaged two other parked vehicles. An employee, Dakota Belcher, who was working inside the store was treated at Pikeville Medical Center for injuries sustained in the collision. The driver admitted to officers that she was inhaling the product used for keyboard cleaning while she was traveling on US 23. Inhaling, or otherwise known as "huffing", is the act of inhaling chemicals contained within household products in order to achieve a "high" . A court appearance for the operator is pending. The incident is under investigation by KSP Sergeant Keith Justice of the Pikeville CVE Region.
