Two From Prestonsburg Killed in a Collision on US 23

(Ivel, Ky.) -- On Saturday December 1, 2012 Post 9 Pikeville received a call of a two vehicle accident on U.S. 23 in the Ivel community of Floyd County. Information obtained at the scene indicates that Peggy Case 53 years old of Prestonsburg, Ky. was traveling South on U.S. 23 in a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix when she lost control of her vehicle, over corrected and crossed the median and traveled into the Northbound lanes of U.S. 23. Case's vehicle was then struck by a 2007 Suzuki SUV operated by Carl Ray Johnson of Kite, Ky. Peggy Case and her passenger, a 16 year old juvenile of Prestonsburg, Ky. were pronounced deceased at the scene by Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson. Johnson and two passengers in his vehicle were transported to Pikeville Medical Center for their injuries. This accident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Jonathan Dixon. Trooper Dixon was assisted on scene by KSP Trooper David Watkins, Sgt. Chris Hollon and Betsy Layne Fire Department.
