DUI Pursuit and Arrest in Pikeville, KY

(Pikeville, Ky.) -- On Thursday November 29, 2012 Post 9 Pikeville received a call of a possible D.U.I. complaint on U.S. 23 traveling Northbound. Kentucky State Police Trooper Jamie Rose located and observed the vehicle. Tpr. Rose activated his emergency equipment and conducted a traffic stop. As Tpr. Rose approached the vehicle the operated accelerated and pulled onto U.S. 23 Northbound fleeing the area. Trooper Rose and Tpr. Marcum then attempted to stop the fleeing vehicle which led to a eight mile pursuit. Sgt. Chris Hollon and Detective Jimmy Anderson responded to the area to assist in traffic control. As the fleeing vehicle approached Sgt. Hollon and Det. Anderson, the operator lost control of the vehicle striking the ditch on the Northbound shoulder of U.S. 23. The operated identified as 30 year old Gary Fletcher of Jacksonville, Florida. and three passengers fled the scene on foot. Fletcher and his three passengers were later located in the area. Gary Fletcher was transported to Pikeville Medical Center for injuries he sustained in the automobile accident where he was treated and released. Fletcher was then lodged in the Pike County Detention Center for 1 count of Operating a motor vehicle under the influence and 1 count of Fleeing or Evading Police. This incident remains under investigation by KSP Tpr. Jamie Rose.
