Mt. Sterling Woman Injured in a Collision on I-64

(Owingsville, KY) -- On Monday, November 05, 2012 at 6:42 p.m. Kentucky State Police in Morehead was notified of a single vehicle injury accident on Interstate 64. JoAnne Lawson, 59 of Mt. Sterling was traveling westbound in a 2002 Ford Explorer, Ms. Lawson was utilizing her cell phone when she lost control and struck an embankment. Ms. Lawson's vehicle then started into a spin causing Ms. Lawson to be ejected. Ms. Lawson and her 2002 Ford Explorer came to a final rest in the median. Ms. Lawson was not wearing her seatbelt restraint. Ms. Joann Lawson was airlifted from the scene by PHI to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Ky. Accident remains under investigation by Trooper Nathan Shortridge.
