October Activity with October Checkpoint

(Morehead, KY) -- Kentucky State Police at Post 8 Morehead announce the final traffic and criminal activity report for October 2012. During October Post 8 personnel issued 2,939 total citations. Of those citations, 30 were for DUI, 467 were for Speeding, 233 for No Seat Belt, and 27 for Child Restraint. In addition, there were 2,578 Vehicle Inspections and 473 Courtesy Notices issued. Post 8 also investigated 78 Traffic Collisions of which there were 3 fatalities, one in Montgomery County, one in Elliott County and one in Bath County. Post 8 personnel also investigated 1,310 Complaints. A total of 84 Criminal Cases were opened and a total of 365 Criminal Arrests were made for the month of October 2012. A total of 27 Programs were conducted.

Additionally, Captain Brian Bowling, Commander of the Kentucky State Police at Morehead, announces that Troopers of the Morehead Post will be conducting Safety Checkpoints in addition to Moving Patrols throughout the Post 8 area during the entire month of November as well the remainder of the year 2012. Motorists are urged to be cautious and obey reduced speeds through road constructions. Extra special attention should be given during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

This concentrated enforcement effort will utilize Troopers and Detectives assigned to and working the Morehead post area. Members of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) will also be utilized. They will focus on enforcing violations of Speeding, No Seat Belt, Child Restraint, Impaired Driving Laws, and Texting While Driving, as well as other violations of the Traffic Laws of Kentucky.
