Date of News Release: 10/02/2012
(Morehead, KY) -- On Monday, October 1, 2012 the Kentucky State Police Post 8's "Tiny Town" Traffic Safety Program, was presented to the young children of Morgan County Elementary School in West Liberty. Approximately 150 children from Kindergarten through the 5th grade were given instructions from KSP, with assistance from five MSU Students and school educators. The students rode 12" bicycles (with training wheels) and donned safety helmets, through a course that displayed colorful store fronts, a hospital, familiar eatery locations, etc. Some of the traffic information presented was railroad crossing signals, traffic lights and signs such as Hospital and Construction Zones, One Way, Pedestrian Crossing, etc. Trooper Endre Samu also stressed the importance of using their seat belt and discussed how texting and driving is unsafe. At the end of the program, three students won a new bicycle, provided by the Kentucky State Police and Morgan Elementary School. Captain Brian Bowling, KSP Post 8 Commander, also extends his appreciation to the entire staff of Morgan County Elementary School for their support in promoting safety awareness to the children. If any school or agency would like to have "Tiny Town" at their function, please contact Trooper Endre Samu at 606-776-9474.
