Powell County Murder & Arrest

(STANTON, KY) -- On Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 6:32 A.M., Kentucky State Police in Morehead was contacted by Powell County Dispatch requesting assistance with a shooting on Lower Cane Creek Road in Stanton. Trooper Anthony Bowling, Detective Donnie McGraw, Sergeant Jim Bowling, Powell County Sheriff's Department, Stanton Police Department and Powell County EMS responded to the scene. When units arrived on scene they discovered Barbara Martin, 64, unresponsive inside her residence. She sustained 2 gunshot wounds from a large caliber handgun. Ms. Martin was pronounced deceased by Assistant Powell County Coroner Arlene Rogers. Ralph Allyn, 66, was located at the residence and was taken into custody and charged with Murder. Mr. Allyn is lodged at the Powell County Detention Center. The Incident remains under investigation by Detective Donnie McGraw.
