Powell County Homicide & Arrest

(Morehead, KY) -- On Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 5:34 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 8 was notified by Powell County Dispatch of a stabbing incident in Clay City. Powell County EMS responded to the residence of Terrance Wagner at 115 First Ave, Clay City. Kelly D. McCoy, age 50, was found inside the residence, unresponsive. Members of the Stanton Police, Clay City Police and Powell County Sheriff's Department secured the scene until the Kentucky State Police Units and Detectives arrived. Powell County Coroner, Hondo Hearn also responded to the scene. McCoy had been visiting Wagner at his residence and was known to have been arguing. Terrance Wagner, age 67, had stabbed Kelly McCoy that resulted in his death. Next of kin has been notified. Wagner was taken into custody and charged with 1st Degree Murder and is currently lodged at the Powell County Jail. The case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Detective Virgil Rucker.
