DUI Injury Collision on Ryan Road in Fleming County

(Muses Mills, KY) -- On Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 9:49 p.m. Kentucky State Police in Morehead was notified by Fleming County Dispatch of a single vehicle injury accident on Ryan Road in Fleming County. Paula McCoy, 38 was traveling eastbound on Ryan Road in a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup when she veered off the left side of the roadway into the ditch, Ms. McCoy continued to travel eastbound in the ditch until she struck a utility pole and coming to a final rest back on the roadway where her vehicle caught on fire. Ms. McCoy refused medical treatment on scene and was transported to the Fleming County Sheriff's Department where she later requested medical treatment, Fleming County Emergency Medical Service responded and transported Ms. McCoy to Fleming County Hospital where she was treated and released. Drugs are suspected to be a factor. Paula McCoy was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense Drug Unspecified, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, 1st Offense Drug Unspecified, Possession of Marijuana, Operating Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs/etc .08 Aggravating Circumstance, 2nd Degree, and Failure of non-owner to Maintain Required Insurance. Ms. McCoy is currently lodged at the Mason County Detention Center. Accident remains under investigation by Trooper Adam Hall.
