Shooting in Elliott County

(Morehead, KY) - On Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 12:58 a.m., Kentucky State Police, Post 8 in Morehead received a request for assistance from the Elliott County Dispatch concerning a domestic dispute at 65 Glen Carter Road in Sandy Hook. Jamie Roseberry, age 39, was reported to be under the influence of drugs and had made threats to kill his wife. Elliott County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene and made contact with Mr. Roseberry and informed him that he was under arrest. Mr. Roseberry brandished a knife and approached the deputy in an aggressive manner. The deputy drew his weapon and shot Mr. Roseberry twice in the chest. Mr. Roseberry was airlifted to Saint Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia and was listed in serious condition. At the request of the Elliott County Sheriff, Jimmy Stephens, the Kentucky State Police was asked to conduct the shooting investigation. The incident remains under investigation by Detective Donnie McGraw.
