Suspect Gunman in Shooting in Stanton Dies at UK Hospital

(Morehead, KY) – On May 24, 2012 at 6:45 a.m. Kentucky State Police Post 8 at Morehead received notification from the Lexington UK Hospital that Randall Derickson was pronounced deceased at 6:38 this morning. Derickson was the suspect in a multiple shooting incident in Stanton on May 22, 2012. Lori Boswell, a victim in this case remains in critical condition. The case remains under investigation by Detective Virgil Rucker.

Multiple Shooting in Powell County

(Morehead, KY) – Kentucky State Police Post 8 at Morehead received information of a multiple shooting in Powell County. Randall Derickson, 51 of Stanton was involved in a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend Lori Hall-Boswell, 35 at her residence on Sipple Street in Stanton, that resulted in Ms. Boswell receiving a single gunshot wound to the head. Mr. Derickson then fled the area in his black pickup truck and proceeded to another residence across town on Karen Drive. A neighbor at the second residence, Rhonda Rogers, 35 confronted Mr. Derickson after observing Mr. Derickson cause a disturbance outside of the home. Mr. Derickson responded by shooting Ms. Rogers. Ms. Rogers succumbed to her injuries. Mr. Derickson then attempted to return to Sipple Street, when he was stopped at a roadblock set up adjacent to the Save-A-Lot convenient store. Mr. Derickson eluded law enforcement and proceeded towards Sipple Street, stopping on the roadway near the previous incident. Local law enforcement positioned themselves behind the vehicle Mr. Derickson was operating. While remaining in his truck, Mr. Derickson was observed to commit a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Ms. Boswell and Mr. Derickson were transported to Clark Regional Hospital and then to the UK Hospital where they remain in critical condition. The case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Detective Virgil Rucker.
