April Activity with May Checkpoint

(Morehead, KY) -- Kentucky State Police at Post 8 Morehead announce the final traffic and criminal activity report for April 2012. During April Post 8 personnel issued 2060 total citations. Of those citations, 41 were for DUI, 205 were for Speeding, 149 for No Seat Belt, and 9 for Child Restraint. In addition, there were 2,106 Vehicle Inspections and 346 Courtesy Notices issued. Post 8 also investigated 42 Traffic Collisions. There were no fatalities to report during April. Post 8 personnel also investigated 1,271 Complaints. A total of 88 Criminal Cases were opened and a total of 311 Criminal Arrests were made for the month of April 2012. A total of 7 Programs were conducted.

Additionally, Captain Bobby D. Murray, Commander of the Kentucky State Police at Morehead, announces that Troopers of the Morehead Post will be conducting Safety Checkpoints in addition to Moving Patrols throughout the Post 8 area during the entire month of May as well the remainder of the year 2012. Emphasis will be placed during the Memorial Day Weekend. In addition, the "Click It or Ticket" campaign will start on May 21, 2012 and continue through June 3, 2012.

This concentrated enforcement effort will utilize Troopers and Detectives assigned to and working the Morehead post area. Members of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) will also be utilized. They will focus on enforcing violations of Speeding, No Seat Belt, Child Restraint, Impaired Driving Laws, and Texting While Driving, as well as other violations of the Traffic Laws of Kentucky.
