Skull found in Fleming County

Date of News Release: 04/30/2012

(Morehead, KY) -- On Friday, April 27, 2012 at approximately 5:14 p.m., Kentucky State Police at Morehead received a call from the Fleming County Dispatch stating that a skull, perceived to be human, was located in a drainage ditch near the residence of 1636 Delaney Road, Ewing, KY. The skull was taken to the Frankfort Medical Examiner's Office for a forensic assessment in evidence gathering and identification. During the preliminary investigation of the area no other skeletal remains or clothing was discovered. No determination has been made as to how the skull came to be at the location or its origin.

Kentucky State Police, as well as various Emergency Response Teams, continued their search today of nearly 10 acres using K-9's trained in locating cadaver(s). Additional skeletal remains were located and were sent to the Frankfort Medical Examiner's Office. If anyone has any information concerning this investigation, they are asked to contact the Kentucky State Police in Morehead at 606-784-4127. The case remains under investigation by Detective Wesley Prather.
