Rowan County Shooting Investigation

(Morehead, KY) -- On Friday March 30, 2012 at 8:50am, the Kentucky State Police in Morehead received a phone call complaining of a shooting, located on Cranston Road in Rowan County. Unadell Eldridge reported that Dewey Brickles, age 56 of Morehead, Kentucky came to her house armed with a .22 caliber pistol and shot her one time in the lower abdominal area while he was inside her residence. Upon arrival, Troopers and Detectives searched the area for over an hour, before locating Mr. Brickles and taking him into custody. Mrs. Eldridge was air-lifted to the University of Kentucky hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Mr. Brickles was lodged in the Rowan County Detention Center in Morehead, Kentucky and charged with Assault 1st and Burglary 1st degree. The incident remains under investigation by Detective Toby Gardner.
