Felony Arrest in Rowan County

(Morehead, KY) -- On Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 11:18 P.M. Kentucky State Police Morehead Trooper Scott Caudill and Trooper Michael Wathan were conducting a Traffic Safety Checkpoint at the junction of US60 and Bluestone Road in Morehead, KY. Troopers made contact with Matthew Jenkins operating a 1999 Mercury Sable black in color. After making contact with the vehicle, Troopers observed several heater cores and several hundred pounds of copper and aluminum inside the automobile. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Jenkins and Donald Holbrook, a passenger in the vehicle, took the items from the old Salt Lick Elementary School in Salt Lick, KY. Both subjects were taken into custody without incident and charged with Receiving Stolen Property Over $500. Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Holbrook are lodged at Rowan County Detention Center. The case remains under investigation by Trooper Scott Caudill.
