Bank of the Mountains Update

Date of News Release: 03/05/2012

(WEST LIBERTY, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police on behalf of the Bank of the Mountains has been requested to release the following information.

To the people of Morgan and surrounding counties, we want to take this time to reassure the public that your money and personal financial information is safe in your bank. All information is backed up daily to remote locations and is retrievable. The Bank of the Mountains in the Ezel location will be open and operational on Monday morning. In addition, the Index Branch will be open provided that electricity at Index is restored. Please keep in mind that there may be some technical difficulties so your patience will be greatly appreciated.

Since Bank of the Mountains may be the only operational bank for the next few days, we expect to experience a significant volume with regards to customer service and transactions. To ease this pressure, customers of First National Bank and Citizens Bank are urged to use their branches in Sandy Hook and Morehead. However, customers of Commercial Bank will be serviced at Bank of the Mountains as best as we can until Commercial Bank is operational. In addition, ATM capabilities, debit card transactions and wire transfers are normal at the Bank of the Mountains Ezel location. Once electricity is restored at the Bank of the Mountains Index location, these functions will be available as well.

Bank management will be meeting with the State Banking Commissioner to assess and short-term issues and the upcoming needs of our customers and citizens.

Again, we just want to stress that your banks are strong, safe and will remain capable of servicing your financial needs. Please know that our community and citizens are resilient and we will survive. Thank you.
