Burglary Investigation and Arrest in Bath County

Date of News Release: 02/11/2012

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On Friday, February 10, 2012, at 11:36 P.M. Kentucky State Police in Morehead received a call from Brian Hatton stating that Jonathan Elam had broken into Russell Hatton's barn and stolen his 1994 Chevrolet Pickup truck. Trooper Michael Armstrong and Trooper Scott Caudill responded to the scene. After attempting to locate the individual in the area, Troopers located the stolen vehicle and returned it to Mr. Hatton. Troopers later located Mr. Elam at Shorty's Quick Stop on US 60 East in Salt Lick. Mr. Elam was taken into custody without incident and is lodged at Montgomery County Detention Center. Mr. Elam was Charged with Burglary, 3rd Degree and Theft by Unlawful Taking-Auto. The case remains under investigation by Trooper Michael Armstrong.
