Accidental Shooting Investigation in Morgan County

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On January 31, 2012 at approximately 1:38 p.m. the Kentucky State Police Morehead was notified by the Morgan County Dispatch of an accidental shooting. Vincent Scott Dunn, whose date of birth is November 13, 1992, suffered a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the upper left chest as a result of a ricochet bullet. Mr. Dunn was target practicing with a modified .22 caliber rifle at his residence. The weapon's barrel was reduced in length to approximately 18 inches along with other weapon modifications. Mr. Dunn stated that he was by himself at the time of the incident. Mr. Dunn was transported by Morgan County EMS to an Air-Life unit and flown to the UK Hospital in Lexington. Mr. Dunn is currently listed in stable condition. The case remains under investigation by Detective Donnie McGraw.
