Vehicle Pursuit and Arrest in Wolfe County

(Morehead, Ky.) --On January 21, 2012 at 10:27 pm Kentucky State Police Trooper Joseph Zalone observed a vehicle pass him at a high rate of speed traveling eastbound at the 43 mile marker on the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County. Trooper Zalone activated his emergency equipment, Orville Sparks was operating a 2011 Dodge four door sedan and increased his speed turning onto Kentucky 191 traveling northbound and then turning onto Kentucky 1812 traveling eastbound.

Mr. Sparks and Nathan Friend abandoned the vehicle on Kentucky 1812 and fled on foot, both subjects were later located and apprehended and are currently lodged at Three Forks Regional Detention Center. Incident remains under investigation by Trooper Joseph Zalone.

Mr. Sparks is charged with Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (Motor Vehicle), Reckless Driving, Speeding 25 mph Over Limit, License to be in Possession, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Failure to Produce Insurance Card, Failure of Non-Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance 1st Offense and Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (On Foot).

Mr. Friend is charged with Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place 1st and 2nd Offense and Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree (On Foot).
