KSP Drug Roundup in Owsley and Estill Counties

(Booneville, KY) -- On Wednesday December 19, 2012 Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement / Special Investigations Branch (KSP DESI) personnel and troopers assigned to Richmond, Morehead, Hazard and Pikeville Posts conducted warrant service in Owsley and Estill counties for indictment warrants issued for Trafficking in Prescription Pills and Conspiracy to Traffic in Prescription Pills. Seven subjects were arrested in Estill County and 17 were arrested in Owsley County.

These arrests come at the end of a year long investigation by Detective Joe Lucas, assigned to KSP DESI. The majority of the charged individuals are accused of trafficking in prescription pills such as Oxycodone, Methadone and Percocet.

KSP personnel were assisted by the Irvine Police Department and the Owsley County Constable.
